People told us about Zion. They warned us. They said it was their favorite park. Still, we weren’t prepared for the impressiveness hat is Zion National Park. We drove through the typical Utah desert and then you get to Zion and it is so vast. You begin by being dwarfed by this massive canyon that you descend into after going through a half mile tunnel. You find yourself looking up in amazement more than anything.
We went to the visitor center and discussed which hike to do. The Narrows were closed and we aren’t brave enough to do Angel’s Landing (yet). So we decided on two shorter hikes. The park has this great shuttle system that takes you to and from hikes and into Springdale. The first hike went up and around the bottom of a canyon. It led us through waterfalls to some emerald pools. We came down and ate lunch in this beautiful grove of trees. The temperature was about 80 degrees and absolutely perfect.
The next hike took us to the weeping rock and was very short. We decided to do one more and walked to where the Narrows hike would begin if the river wasn’t too high. After our hikes we set up camp in our beautiful spot at Watchman Campground. We went into town and shopped and ate pizza and ice cream out on the patio. When we got back to camp we made a fire and the temperature stayed warm until we went to bed. We both think it will be over a year until we come back but a trip to Las Vegas may prove too tempting.
