Today we got up bright and early to head to Badlands National Park. It was about 2 hours to drive from our hotel. First impressions were good and it was more impressive than we thought it would be. I thought it was more going to be hilly but it had a lot of dramatic cliffs.

We did some short hikes and explored before going to the visitor’s center. After that we drove the road and stopped at viewpoints. We didn’t see any buffalo but we did see lots of prairie dogs.

On our way back we stopped in Wall to see the famous Wall Drug Store. It was substantial and surprised us with how much stuff there was. It was honestly more of a western themed mall and definitely worth the stop. We continued our day with a stop in the wild west town of Deadwood. We got to see a gun fight and the graves of Wild Bill Hickok and Calamity Jame. We ate the buffet at the Silverado and walked around the town. It wouldn’t be complete if we didn’t gamble, so I lost $20 and Kirk and his dad both won.
